Light, Light, Light! This is something that you WILL need to take into consideration. Without light any color your walls are painted will always look black, right? The type of lighting you have/use will also impact how a particular color will look. Please consider natural lighting/daylight, fluorescent, and incandescent lights.

Light affects the size and shape of every space and can be used to enhance colors within a design. During the day, for example, sunlight will naturally illuminate a room and showcase the color you have chosen. Please keep in mind that darker colors, especially when used on walls, can make a space seem smaller than it really is. Past dusk, the placement, and type of lighting used can affect how light or dark a colored section can appear also. When you select colors it might be beneficial to test colors using different lighting types. Depending on the type of bulb(s) you use, the light emitted may be a warm or cool color and would affect the overall feel of the room. Finally, it’s important that all of the lighting in the room be complementary in color to avoid the situation described above, where the bulbs are emitting different, competing colors of light.
